The statutory amount of a week’s pay (used for calculating various awards including statutory redundancy pay and unfair dismissal ‘basic awards’ currently sits at £571.
The 2023/4 figure, effective 6 April 2023 is due to be announced in March 2023. The current maximum unfair dismissal compensatory award is £93,878 and this is also likely to increase.
Compensation for injury to feelings, awarded in discrimination cases are set into bands, generally known as ‘Vento’ bands. The current bands, below, are presently under annual review by the Presidents of the Employment Tribunals in England & Wales and Scotland.
- £990 to £9,900 for the lower band—less serious cases (previously £910 to £9,100)
- £9,900 to £29,600 for the middle band (previously £9,100 to £27,400)
- £29,600 to £49,300 for the upper band—the most serious cases (previously £27,400 to £45,600)
- £49,300 and above for the most exceptional cases (previously £45,600 and above)
